Type Locality and Naming

Includes in Hisar-Zarafshan ranges, and Obisafit, Turkparidin, Chakykalya typesections

Lithology and Thickness

It is represented by red-colored sandy-siltstone rocks with a thickness of 30-40 m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

They conformably or with slight erosion overlie the deposits of Berriasian, Middle Aptian or Upper Hauterivian - Middle Aptian.

Upper contact

They are conformably overlain by the deposits of the Cenomanian and Turonian.

Regional extent

The Sherabad Fm (Ширабадскому горизонту) in the Zeravshan-Gissar region corresponds to the upper part of the Fandaryn Fm

In the Darvaz region, the Shirabad horizon corresponds to the Khosretishin Fm (хозретишинокая свита) (Andreev et al., 1969), represented by red-colored sandstones and siltstones with a thickness of 150 m.
